Save the Amazon- one person at a time. BuckSchmidt.com

On the 28th of February 2001, Buck and Luciene moved to the Amazon Basin of Brazil. We lived in Macapá, right on the equator. Why would a web designer give up his career and take his family from their comfortable life in Columbus, Ohio, USA, to live on the Amazon River? We came with a vision to save the Amazon, to tell people about Jesus, and plant a Vineyard church. We have planted a church, and we are turning it over to the national leaders, heading back to the States in Sept. 2009.

I have had some connection problems again, and have gotten behind on posting, so here are some catching up posts from the last couple of weeks.

Here is Luciene and Josely with some of the kids at church this past Sunday.

We didn't do much for Luciene on her birthday on Monday the 22nd, we surprised her at our kinship on Wednesday.

Nicolas plays with his birthday ball, as Josiah looks on.

The kids were all playing together, after putting Nicolas in a plastic shopping cart.

Nicolas turned one year old on May 23rd, Luciene made a wonderful cake.

Can I touch that? Nicolas doesn't know yet how to blow out a candle, so he was just going to snuff it out with his finger.

We had a mother's day party at the church. Each mother paraded around to enthusiastic cheers.

Happy Mother's Day!

Luciene and Maria, a woman who accepted Christ in our church.

Nicolas and Josiah.

Nicolas is usually very happy.

Hannah and Raquel have been studying the keyboard with Robson, a good friend of ours who is an awesome musician. We don't have a keyboard for them to practice on so progress has been slow, but they are really enjoying it so far.

Josiah likes to check out the classes too.
