Save the Amazon- one person at a time. BuckSchmidt.com |

On the 28th of February 2001, Buck and Luciene moved to the Amazon Basin of Brazil. We lived in Macapá, right on the equator.
Why would a web designer give up his career and take his family from their comfortable life in Columbus, Ohio, USA, to live on the Amazon River? We came with a vision to save the Amazon, to tell people about Jesus, and plant a Vineyard church. We have planted a church, and we are turning it over to the national leaders, heading back to the States in Sept. 2009. ![]() |

For the second time the shack at Novo Horizonte was robbed. This time they tore off some of the boards of the side of the shack, and took everything that belonged to Garcia, the worker in charge there. They took his stereo, his TV, all of his music CD’s, his propane gas container, his clothes. They even took his bed and mattress. The shack is in such disrepair that we really need to just rip it apart and build something that will be more secure, and better serve the needs of the community. We would like to build a two story wooden shack, a small apartment upstairs, and an open area below to have meetings until we have the funds to build a brick church. We also need to get a fence up around the land, so that it isn’t so easy for people to walk through and steal. We need at least US$600 to start these projects. Right now the meetings are taking place outside, and mosquitoes have been quite a problem. Rainy season is approaching, and with it the urgency to prepare adequate conditions.
