Save the Amazon- one person at a time. BuckSchmidt.com

On the 28th of February 2001, Buck and Luciene moved to the Amazon Basin of Brazil. We lived in Macapá, right on the equator. Why would a web designer give up his career and take his family from their comfortable life in Columbus, Ohio, USA, to live on the Amazon River? We came with a vision to save the Amazon, to tell people about Jesus, and plant a Vineyard church. We have planted a church, and we are turning it over to the national leaders, heading back to the States in Sept. 2009.

We have started a new ministry at the old folks home here in town. There is only one, and it is Catholic. We are the first evangelical church allowed in. The kids danced, Mayla read a story, and I preached. Joselma also picked up one of the ladies to take to church on Sunday. Pray that God would continue to open doors of ministry for us in Macapa!

We have been having a "Gincana", a youth meeting that pits two teams against each other, as a means to raise funds and food for the camp coming up at the end of February. Here are some of the children.

We were invited recently to a Foursquare church. We took a group of our young people. Our worship team led some praise, then I preached. Hopefully this will be the start of a lasting friendship.

I am trying something new, uploading video to our site. Not sure if this will work, but if it does, I may start doing more of it. L1050534.MOV
