Save the Amazon- one person at a time. BuckSchmidt.com

On the 28th of February 2001, Buck and Luciene moved to the Amazon Basin of Brazil. We lived in Macapá, right on the equator. Why would a web designer give up his career and take his family from their comfortable life in Columbus, Ohio, USA, to live on the Amazon River? We came with a vision to save the Amazon, to tell people about Jesus, and plant a Vineyard church. We have planted a church, and we are turning it over to the national leaders, heading back to the States in Sept. 2009.

It has been a while since I posted. Construction has kept us very busy. I put up some photos of the construction .

Thanks so much to everyone that has prayed for us, and helped support us. Thanks for being a part of what God is doing on the Amazon!

When God moves, He moves big! So many things have happened recently, that our heads are spinning.

We got our car! Finally, and in God’s timing, they released our car. It has been such a blessing! It has already been useful in transporting people, hauling chairs for the church, and materials for the construction.

The construction has been progressing very quickly. The columns and beams on the second floor that will support the wooden trusses are all concreted. Now the concrete must cure for 15 days, and we can remove the forms and start putting up the wood, then we can cover the roof with the clay tiles. Meanwhile we are putting in the electrical and water, and preparing the floor to receive ceramic tiles.

We are just amazed at the goodness of God, and how quickly everything just came together.

We will hold a camp during carnival, and are working on the planning of that. It will be held on February 6th – 9th. We are trying to put together a very well done camp, bringing in speakers from the Vineyard in Altamira, and also trying to schedule some leaders from the New Zealand Vineyard that will be visiting, as well as some Americans that will also be in Macapá. Please pray that God would be preparing hearts already, that God would show the speakers what is on His heart, and that God would show up and be very real, transforming hearts and minds for all eternity.

We would like prayer for Hannah and Raquel. Hannah has been having bad back pain, in the region of the kidney. We have done all of the tests, and can’t find the source of the pain. She an ultrasound this morning, I think everything is normal, we go back to the doctor this afternoon. Raquel has been having problems with asthma for the past couple of weeks. The constant burning of trash and vegetation, coupled with all of the dust and cement from the construction hasn’t been helping her at all.

We would like to thank God for His faithfulness, and thank each one of you that intercede for us. We thank God for you!
